This week marks the second week of Tim Boetsch’s training camp for his upcoming fight in UFC 130 and I’ve just posted the first article in the series on training management. As you can see from reading the article, I’m going to be getting into great detail on just how dynamic the process is and how important it is to manage it on a daily and weekly basis.

The article series will be the first time I’ve ever shown exactly how I use heart rate variability technology to effectively manage the training process and I think it will really open up people’s eyes to understand that assessment and programming is not the entire equation, you also have to manage the program as you work through it as well. This is really what separates the most effective training programs, as well as the best coaches, from everything and everyone else.

Fight! Magazine

I’ve recently been asked to become a regular contributor to Fight! Magazine and I’m excited to be offer my work to a very wide audience. If you’ve never read the magazine before, it’s the top MMA magazine in the US and one of the best magazines covering the sport period. I’ve just submitted my first article and it should appearing in the next issue to hit the newsstands. I’ll be providing several articles for the magazine in the coming months so if you don’t already have a subscription, make sure to pick them up and read what I have to say.

Muscle & Fitness

The new issue of Muscle & Fitness just hit the newsstands and the entire issue is dedicated to MMA and fitness related to the sport. I’ve got a brief one page article towards the back of the magazine on a chest workout for combat sports. There’s also a one page review of some new grip training products I’ve recently been using called Grip4orce and they are very simple little devices but effective as well. I very rarely endorse products, but for the money you can’t beat these little things and I think they are well worth picking up.

Central Virginia Sports Performance Seminar

If you haven’t yet registered to attend the live event or watch the live webinar/buy the video of the Central Virgina Sports Performance Seminar being held in Richmond, Virginia, what are you waiting for? This thing is dirt cheap for the amount of quality information that’s being presented and is well worth the money. I’ll be flying in on Thursday and I’ve already been contacted by a few people from the site that will be there as well. I’m looking forward to seeing as many people there as possible and if you’re not going to be there, watch the webinar and pick up the video, you won’t be disappointed.
