Last week I sent out a brief email and a survey to take to let me know exactly what topics you wanted to see covered on my upcoming DVD on explosive power for MMA. The results came pouring in faster than I ever expected. In just a few days, more than 500 people took the time to fill out the survey and give me their thoughts and feedback! After spending the last week reading over each and every one of them, there were some pretty clear answers…
First, on the question of which topics were most important, the feedback was overwhelmingly in favor of covering programming and specific MMA power exerices above all else. More general exercises and scientific theory were a pretty distanct 3rd and 4th compared to the top two. From this feedback, I will now be spending the majority of time on the DVD going over these two areas, programming and MMA specific power exercises.
Next, I wanted to know just how important it is, on a scale of 1-10, to most people to improve their explosive power. The results were overwhelmingly clear that this is an area that everyone considers very important and something they’d like to see improvement in. A large majority of those who responded chose between an 8 and a 10, with 10 being the most chosen by far. I’d say I chose the right topic to focus on!
I also wanted to know more about the audience and the members of this site so I asked a little bit about the training backgrounds of those who filled out the survey. I was not surprised that the majority of people who read this site train either recreationally in the sport or compete. What did surprise me a bit, however, was just how many are also strength and conditioning coaches, personal trainers, and MMA coaches.
Finally, I wanted to know more about the specific areas that everyone trains and competes in. To be honest, I was a bit surprised that MMA was actually number two and BJJ was on top. I guess this means I need to spend more time talking about the specifics of strength and conditioning for BJJ! I was also surprised how few train in kickboxing and I made the mistake of not putting boxing on there, but it’s pretty obvious that the majority train in BJJ, Submission Wrestling, or MMA. These are the sports the exercises I’m putting on the DVD will cover the most.
Aside from demographics and DVD specifics, I have to say that I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of positive feedback that I received as well. I have literally spent the last week or so looking through every single persons survey and I can’t tell you how many tremendous stories people told about the results they have seen since purchasing my book and using my methods.
From guys who won their first BJJ tournament at the age of 50 to those who have transformed their conditioning from a weakness into a strength and won fights because of it, the amount of positive feedback was very satisfying and absolutely great to read. The more stories and positive feedback I read, the more I wanted to make sure I put everything I had into this DVD to make sure it lives up to everyone’s expectations and more.
Along those lines, I will be shortly posting an article answering a wide variety of questions I received on explosive power in the survey. With more than 500 surveys to go through, obviously there were a lot of different questions. Within the next few days I’ll be posting my answers to the most common questions I received. Be on the lookout for those coming soon.
Armed with all the invaluable feedback I received through the survey, I’ve really begun to dial down the DVD into exactly what you told me you are looking for. You’re going to see a lot of exercise demonstration and get a very clear understanding of how I turn methods and exercises into programs that deliver results and improve explosive power.
