Tim Boetsch has been in town for the past few weeks training for UFC 117, now just a week away. Unfortunately, Tim’s original opponent Thiago Silva had to pull out of the fight just a few days ago due to a back injury so Tim will be facing UFC newcomer Todd Brown. Nobody wants to have their opponent pull out so close to a fight, but sometimes that’s just the way it goes in the fight game.

Tim and Matt have been watching some video of Todd Brown and he is definitely a different fighter than Thiago Silva. Any time someone is making their UFC debut, you never really know what to expect for sure. They may rise to the occassion and fight better than they’ve ever fought before, or they might cave under pressure of a national audience and look terrible. You also never know what kind of shape the guy is going to be on since he took the fight on short notice. Regardless, Tim is focused on fighting his fight and controlling the action once they step in the Octagon.

I’ve included a short video of Tim doing some training on the Jacob’s Ladder and Versaclimber. On this day in particular, Tim was mostly doing active recovery so you’ll see a very moderate pace on both machines. Personally, I think both the Versaclimber and Jacob’s Ladder are two of the best machines out there and I use them both daily. If you don’t have access to either one, try to find a gym that has them.
